Most laws weren't chosen. They were inherited - from compromises made in rooms we'll never enter, in years that no longer exist.
We obey them. We rarely question them. When we do, the conversation collapses into tribes before it touches the mechanics.
BETA/NATION is the opposite of that.
It's a quiet lab where any rule - federal statute, zoning code, social norm, office policy - can be put back on the table. Rewritten. Deleted. Invented.
Then simulated, in public, with structure: who wins, who loses, what unintended thing breaks, what the historical analog says.
Not because the lab decides anything. But because thinking out loud, in a structured way, is the first thing a healthy democracy forgot how to do.
Propose a law or change. Watch the system bend it. Then argue about the bend.
